Just arrived in Phnom Penh (Cambodia’s capital city). The bus journey
from Sihanoukville took about 4 hours and was pretty uneventful. It
did give us a great chance to watch the countryside whisk past and see
all the paddy fields, water buffalo and roadside markets.
Jen had a nasty bout of food poisoning yesterday but she is on the
mend now as she has just finished off a sandwich and coke in a very
posh coffee house that is in the photo below. Didn’t expect this is
Cambodia!
We have found a really nice guest house in the centre of the city and
plan to spend the next few days exploring the sights.

Just got a few minutes on a PC to let you know we’re still here and about to head off to Phnom Penh for 3 daysย and then onto Hoh Chi Minh City in Vietnam.ย Sihanoukville has been a bit mad as it’s been the tail end of Chinese New Year but thankfully it’s quieter now!

What a day! The snorkelling was simply stunning and we have never
seen fish or water like it (see photo below). Ben had pretty bad sea
sickness and Jen has burnt herself to a crisp but we both had a great
day and it was definitely worth it.
Tomorrow is our day to go back to the mainland and Trat before we go
to Cambodia the next day. So if we dissapear for a week or so it’s
just because Cambodia doesn’t have wifi.
Oh yeah, and the post title is to show that we caught no fish. Some
people in our boat did pretty well though.

We seem to have stumbled onto a beach only the locals seem to know
about as one guy (a local Brit) asked us to make sure we keep quiet
about it. A posh resort was built next to the beach and they have
removed all the rocks and imported some very soft white sand. The
great thing is that the posh resort is deserted and we can sneak onto
their beach via a bar and enjoy a pretty much private beach as you can
see below.
Tomorrow is our fishing and snorkeling tour of some smaller islands so
we can’t wait to see what the day brings.
In reply to Paul’s last comment: the English spoken here is quite
manageable though each person speaks enough for their proffession, so
get them off topic and it’s harder
PS Did anyone catch the Thailand v Lebanon football match? We watched
it live and it was hilarious. If not, catch the clips on YouTube. I’m
sure they’ll be up there.
