Snaaaake!!

March15

It may be difficult to see, although you can probably tell from the
slightly terrified look on Jen’s face, there is a snake right next to
her (honest!). It is in fact our first wild snake sighting. Only small
and very still but only a foot away from the pavement. Maybe this will
go some way to curing Jen’s phobia!?

It’s 2 months since we left home today so we celebrated by doing
nothing apart from going for a walk. Maybe a few beers tonight with
the City game if we can convice Zackry to put it on. We did enjoy
watching Liverpool stuff Man U last night after our curry. Tee hee!

Happy Birthday Uncle Richard!

March14

Here is a photo of the current gang at Zackry’s. Amazingly that
includes a couple who were next door to us in Koh Lipe and who just
turned up here today. Wierd! This is the most sociable place we have
been and we’re loving it.

Done nothing really at all today apart from research our next move.
It’s been lovely!

Happy Birthday Richard. Hope you have a lovely day & are enjoying West
Didsbury (& looking after Grandma of course!).

Up up and away!

March13

We gave in today and hired a scooter again as Langkawi can only be
explored properly when you have some wheels.

Our first stop was at the cable car which was probably the steepest
we’d ever seen but had some incredible views of the island from the
710m peak (see photo). C&A – you would not have liked the cable car –
remember Cairngorm?!

Then it was off for some riding up very winding but thankfully quiet
mountain roads before paying a visit to the slightly dissapointing
duty-free malls.

Now were back at Zackry’s to join in the nightly get together and
meal. It’s a really sociable place with some great people.

Goodbye Thailand (Hello Malaysia)

March12

As suspected, Lipe was rather gorgeous. Really small, no roads but
best of all were the beaches. The picture is of our nearest, Sunlight
Beach which was beautiful in the afternoon, just like a postcard.

However we spent yesterday on the best beach in the world, Sunset
Beach. It was tucked into a cove with a gorgeous stretch of sand & the
clearest sea we’ve ever seen. Hence we got down there at around 10am
and snorkeled for an hour and saw an amazing range of tropical fish
straight off the beach. Including a very cute family of Clown fish
(Nemo fish) hiding in some coral.

We then had breakfast in a bakery in a shady grove and headed back for
more snorkeling in the afternoon. We can’t figure out why there were
no more than 10 other people on the beach!!

We’re now on Langkawi in Malaysia. Just checked into Zackry’s
Guesthouse which seems to be the friendliest place in the world &
planning our next move.
